How to Make Classic Honey Cake
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice. Set this dry mixture aside.
- In another large mixing bowl, combine the vegetable oil, granulated sugar, honey, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the brewed coffee, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth, but do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the honey glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, powdered sugar, and hot water until you have a smooth glaze.
- Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- While the cake is still warm, drizzle the honey glaze evenly over the top.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving.
